Children with autism often struggle with even simple daily tasks, simply because they can be too confusing with too many steps or details. Because autistic people need to do things one step at a time, they often get stuck at the prospect of navigating a complicated task on their own.
However, most people can be helped by creating pictograms that illustrate how to get through step-by-step. Such training pictograms are introduced gently, by guiding the child and noticing when it might be too much. For the pictograms to make sense, an adult must help boys with autism connect the individual images with the corresponding actions.
